Sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don’t and today, I’m feelin’ pretty darn nutty.  I admit, most days I find myself in a rut…lookin’ and feelin’ homely from head to toe.  Those are my lazy days, my I-don’t-give-a-rats-@ss kinda day where I sit at home in the pajamas that I woke up in to spend countless amount of hours watching reality tv shows, consuming tv dinners and catchin’ up on TiVo.  Embarrasingly enough, those days are frequent, but not today!  I feel good today, and tonight I feel like puttin’ on my favorite pumps and gettin’ my hair did for a night out in the city!

Whatever the occasion is, whether there is one or not, and even if I’m having my I-don’t-give-a-rats-@ss kinda day or not I’m always in the mood for some yummy eye candy and for me, it means style sightings on my favorite sites like Polyvore.  It’s kinda like window shopping without the window, and because shopping is my favorite pastime and because it’s Fashion Forward Friday, I thought I would share with you what I bought with my imaginary money when I went window shopping today…

Happy Mother's Day

May 10, 2009

I’m off to go see Taylor Hicks in the performance of Grease, but before I do that I wanted to wish all of you mother’s  a relaxing, enjoyable and most of all…a  fulfilling Mother’s Day because it’s well deserved!  I remember vividly my thoughts on having children when I was young and a bit naive.  I was 17, and I decided that it wasn’t for me and stood firm on never having kids and I was sure about it.  So sure,  my mind was set and that was it.

It’s funny how things change, how we change and how our minds change.  I was 25 and 5 years into a relationship when things took a turn.  I felt my biological clock ticking and had a distinct instinct.  The maternal kind, that wouldn’t go away.  It felt natural and I was ready mentally and emotionally.  I wanted it and I wanted to finally bear a child and be a mother…the best mother.  My mind was set and that was it.

5 years and a daughter later, there’s a package with “Happy Mother’s Day” written all over it in crayon.  The Crayola kind, and it wasn’t  for anyone else but me.  As excited as Mya was to see me open it,  I was even more excited.  I began to open the package and before I could catch a glimpse of what it was, Mya yelled “It’s a crown!  It’s a crown!”  Comical.  It was actually a tulle hairpiece and the perfect accessory for Mother’s Day.  Well…at least that’s what Mya thought because she insisted that I wear it all day today so I can have it on when she makes me a Mother’s Day party.  Her mind was set and that was it.

What did your lil’ one(s) bring home for you this Mother’s Day?

Mya Monday

May 4, 2009

A Mya Monday brought to you by: Daddy

Wow! I look back at these photos, and I realize how time flies.  It feels like this day was just a short time ago.  It’s actually been a whole year though.  I realize my baby has become a little toddler.  It blows me away everyday to see how far my little girl has come.  I see Mya coming home from school with worksheets, sounding out words, and trying to write her name and I am amazed.  Mya and Navy are the best things to happen to me and bring joy to my life everyday.  Seeing all the photos Navy takes of Mya and our family truly helps me appreciate all the special moments we have had.  Thank you Navy!

Awwww soooky soooky nowwww!!!  Long time…no see, but you know me love you long time, so here’s a sneaky peaky of what’s to come…

Doggy Couture: Chanel

April 19, 2009

If you’ve got a dog named after a fashion icon, she must be fabulous.  She must be.  Why?  It’s an unwritten rule and it’s a requirement…it just is!  So without further ado, I give to you the fantabulous Chanel…

The Valdez Family

April 10, 2009

2004:  I went to FIDM to study fashion design.  2006:  I traded my dress form in for a Canon Rebel XTi.  I stumbled off my uneven cobblestoned path and paved a new one.  My new path is still in cobblestone and uneven, but that’s what I love about it.  It’s not so perfect and boring – besides…I’m a texture girl and at the end of the day it just makes for a better backdrop.  Ha! : )  Life is unscripted and beautiful moments happen when we least expect it to and that’s the best part.

9:30am:  Meet the Valdez Family at Manhattan Beach Creamery for a family shoot.  11:30am:  Shooting family session at a luxury boutique hotel in Manhattan Beach.  For months, we’ve been exchanging e-mails and ideas for the perfect location and agreed on the quaint ice cream parlor in downtown Manhattan.  I looked forward to shooting there and we did, but because life is unscripted and beautiful moments happen when we least expect it to…the best part of the shoot was everywhere else but the the ice cream parlor!

Thank you, Mom and Dad for coming the extra mile to be in front of my camera.  You guys shine and it really shows in your pictures!  Ariana is the cutest lil’ 8 month old (I couldn’t stop smiling when I was editing her pictures) and quite the ham!  Hope your trip back to San Jose was swell!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

I love the expression on Ariana’s face!  Can’t you hear her saying, “Oooh weee!!!!”?

Since Mya’s Sweet Shoppe themed party last year, I’ve been getting alot of inquiries as to where I got the paper lanterns, where I found the centerpieces, where the giant lollipops came from, etc.  The truth is I love planning a party, creating a custom theme from an inspiration and realizing my ideas.  The gratitude that I get from the end result  is simply bliss!  It’s quite a challenge but for me, that’s the fun part!  I’m crazy!  I know!  The hard part is trying to find the perfect pieces and that special something to tie in all of the details for the party that I envision and even if I cannot find it…I resort to making it!  It’s as simple as that!

Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Make it?  Yeah.  Sure, Navy!”  Okay, okay.   So – if I didn’t get pleasure from cuttin’ and pastin’, I would probably find myself at The Tomkat Studio:  A Place for all Things PrettyKim from The Tomkat Studio specializes in invitations, party planning and decorating.  The shop offers complete customized party packages that are one of a kind and to die for!  You know all that cuttin’ and pastin’ I was talkin’ ’bout?  Well…none is required, because it’s all done for you by Kim!  Yes, she’s heaven sent!  I adore her creations and I really wish I could’ve known about it sooner so I could incorporate it into my own parties!  Now isn’t that fantabulous?  Go on by and check out her Etsy Shop and OH – stop on by her blog as well to see what she has to say about Mya’s Sweet Shoppe  party!  Happy planning! :)

***The Tomkat Studio is offering 15% off  any party order over $25 for my blog readers.  Simply type in NAVY15 as the discount code when you checkout!  Aren’t they awesome for that!  Gotta love it!***

Here is a lollipop themed package that is oh-so-adorable!!!!

I know, I know!  Long awaited and much anticipated, but I promise it’s worth the wait!  Drumrolls please….I introduce to you…the fabulously fabulous…Jasmine!  I’m really at a lost for words to describe how powerful this little girl is in front of the camera.  She’s got that “it” factor and I am willing to put money on it that she’ll be doing big things one day.  Please believe me when I say she needed zero direction.  Where she got these poses and looks from is beyond me, honey!  I ended up accusing her mama for it, but even she didn’t know where the girl got it from.  I still say she got it from her mama…
